  1. 2017 Sept 15 Challenge

I was inspired by the blue and food on the mood board. I used Tiffany's Scrap Focus It's Elemental mini class to instruct me on clustering.
  2. I can't believe that it's already the middle of September! It's my favorite time of year...Fall! While I really don't get much of the cooler weather or colorful leaves in Florida I still love everything about fall. This month's challenge is to use the Mood Board below to inspire you to create a Fall themed page. Think warm drinks, reading books, walking in the leaves, rich colors, and a bit of bokeh. You can use whatever inspires you from the Mood Board below to create a brand new page. Here is my page - I was inspired by the window pane, the colors, the coffee, leaves, swirls and little bit of book print. Click the layout for credits. I'm excited to see what you create this month! Please upload your layout into the Challenge Gallery and post a link to it here in the this thread by September 30, 2017. Tell us what in the mood board inspired you. You can find directions for uploading layouts to the gallery here and how to link the layout to this post here. And now for the prizes (all prize winners chosen randomly): (1) $30 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $20 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $10 discount coupon towards a class of your choice You can only win one prize per challenge each month. That means you have two opportunities to win each month. **Please note** There will now be two challenges per month and you can now save your discount coupon to combine them to be used at a later date for a class or live event.

  4. We just finished a week of challenges for our birthday week here at Scrapaneers. I thought the challenge to make a layout based on a mood board of random things looked like fun and even though the challenge is over, I'm going to try that. It's a new type of challenge for me. Before now I have always enjoyed doing a scraplift challenge and I don't much like the challenge where they give you something to add to your layout each day and try to throw a curveball at you. In the end, I want to come out with a layout I'm happy with. What kinds of challenges do you enjoy? Maybe we can include some in our monthly challenges.

  9. April 2017 Challenge

I used https://www.allposters.com/-sp/The-Wizard-of-Oz-There-s-No-Place-Like-Home-Posters_i9385422_.htm for inspiration. Did some extraction and perspective warp on some photos, still need to hone content aware skills to fill in some spots. Also used Tiffany's Guide to Shadowing as instruction to create the shadows.

  16. One of the most popular challenges during our birthday week celebration was the mood board challenge. For those of you who haven't worked with a mood board before, it is just using a compilation of photos to inspire you to create a layout. So the October challenge will be to create a layout based on the following mood board: Your layout can be as simple as using one or two of the colors or as complex as creating your own fantasy world. Anything goes, just tell us what inspired your layout. I decided to go the full fantasy route with tips and tricks I first learned in Tiffany's Guide to Blending class and also in Champions where I learned more about blending modes. So here's my layout of my granddaughter inspired by the underwater scene, the teal and rust colors, and the bubbles. Post your layouts in the challenge gallery and link it to this forum topic by October 31, 2016. And now for the prizes (all prize winners chosen randomly): (1) $30.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $20.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $10.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice You can only win one prize in the challenge each month. Instructions on how to post a layout in the gallery and how to link it to this thread are pinned to the top of the category. I hope you'll join the challenge and good luck!
  17. Donald Duck

A layout using Jump Start Designs template, Club Scrap digi papers (altered with July 2016 Champions techniques), stamps, embellishments and titles. I used several techniques learned here recently...diagonal papers, layering embellishments, shadowing, extractions and brushing over images to look like real stamps. Created using red, white and blue for my flag colors.

  19. When I took Amanda Taylor's class The Art of Photographs, I was surprised to learn that using the same photo in different ways on a layout makes a fun and interesting page. It's something I had never tried before so I thought I would give you a chance to try it too. So the challenge is simple, use one photo on your layout three different ways. You can blend it into the background, highlight different areas of the same photo, or use different photo treatments and filters. Here are some examples: This layout uses a template from Amanda's class and I highlighted different areas of the same photo. This one uses three different photo treatments for the same photo. Post your layouts in the challenge gallery and link it to this forum topic by September 30, 2016.

  22. July is the month that those of us who live in the United States celebrate Independence Day. Everywhere you look you see red, white and blue, the colors of our flag. So for this month's challenge I thought it would be fun to use flag colors on our layouts. So the challenge is: Create a layout using the colors of your country's flag (any shade or tint will do and templates are okay). The subject does not need to be patriotic. Use 2 or more photos on your layout. Use at least one patterned paper Add a title Post your layout in the Challenge gallery and post a link to it in this thread. Be sure to tell us the colors in your flag and post your layout by the end of the day on July 31, 2016. Simple, right? And now for the prizes (all prize winners chosen randomly): (1) $30.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $20.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $10.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice You can only win one prize in the challenge each month. Instructions on how to post a layout in the gallery and how to link it to this thread are pinned to the top of the category. This layout uses pretty traditional shades of red, white, and blue and a patriotic theme. This layout uses more muted shades of red, white, and blue I can't wait to see your layouts.
  23. Welcome to the December Challenge! This month's challenge will again be based off of December's Champions theme. All participants will win a set of beautiful journal cards and bits created by the amazingly talented Scrapaneers' Peers. (Click on the image to enlarge.) And one lucky RANDOM participant will win a $10 gift certificate towards any Scrapaneers class! Without further ado, here is this month’s challenge: December is a busy month for most of us, so use at least one of the following on your layout: A photo showing lights (Christmas tree, candles, neighborhood lights); or A photo showing a reflection, or a reflection created in photoshop; or If you have Photoshop and your computer can handle it, use the Filter -> Render -> Lighting effects on your photo or layout; or Create a layout that contains "reflective" journaling (past memories, your thoughts about the Holiday season, etc) Here's mine if you've like a little inspiration. I was fortunate enough to capture the bokeh of my tree lights and this snapshot of my kitty. I played with the lighting effects filter in Photoshop to highlight him a little better. Your completed challenge layout must be: Posted in the Scrapaneers Challenge gallery. In your description, please point out how/where you used each challenge step. Linked to this thread. No later than 11:59 p.m. EST on January 6, 2016!
