  1. One of the most popular challenges during our birthday week celebration was the mood board challenge. For those of you who haven't worked with a mood board before, it is just using a compilation of photos to inspire you to create a layout. So the October challenge will be to create a layout based on the following mood board: Your layout can be as simple as using one or two of the colors or as complex as creating your own fantasy world. Anything goes, just tell us what inspired your layout. I decided to go the full fantasy route with tips and tricks I first learned in Tiffany's Guide to Blending class and also in Champions where I learned more about blending modes. So here's my layout of my granddaughter inspired by the underwater scene, the teal and rust colors, and the bubbles. Post your layouts in the challenge gallery and link it to this forum topic by October 31, 2016. And now for the prizes (all prize winners chosen randomly): (1) $30.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $20.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $10.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice You can only win one prize in the challenge each month. Instructions on how to post a layout in the gallery and how to link it to this thread are pinned to the top of the category. I hope you'll join the challenge and good luck!
  2. When I took Amanda Taylor's class The Art of Photographs, I was surprised to learn that using the same photo in different ways on a layout makes a fun and interesting page. It's something I had never tried before so I thought I would give you a chance to try it too. So the challenge is simple, use one photo on your layout three different ways. You can blend it into the background, highlight different areas of the same photo, or use different photo treatments and filters. Here are some examples: This layout uses a template from Amanda's class and I highlighted different areas of the same photo. This one uses three different photo treatments for the same photo. 3. July is the month that those of us who live in the United States celebrate Independence Day. Everywhere you look you see red, white and blue, the colors of our flag. So for this month's challenge I thought it would be fun to use flag colors on our layouts. So the challenge is: Create a layout using the colors of your country's flag (any shade or tint will do and templates are okay). The subject does not need to be patriotic. Use 2 or more photos on your layout. Use at least one patterned paper Add a title Post your layout in the Challenge gallery and post a link to it in this thread. Be sure to tell us the colors in your flag and post your layout by the end of the day on July 31, 2016. Simple, right? And now for the prizes (all prize winners chosen randomly): (1) $30.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $20.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice (1) $10.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice You can only win one prize in the challenge each month. Instructions on how to post a layout in the gallery and how to link it to this thread are pinned to the top of the category. This layout uses pretty traditional shades of red, white, and blue and a patriotic theme. This layout uses more muted shades of red, white, and blue I can't wait to see your layouts.
