July 2016 Challenge

31 posts in this topic

July is the month that those of us who live in the United States celebrate Independence Day. Everywhere you look you see red, white and blue, the colors of our flag. So for this month's challenge I thought it would be fun to use flag colors on our layouts. So the challenge is:

  1. Create a layout using the colors of your country's flag (any shade or tint will do and templates are okay). The subject does not need to be patriotic.
  2. Use 2 or more photos on your layout.
  3. Use at least one patterned paper
  4. Add a title
  5. Post your layout in the Challenge gallery and post a link to it in this thread. Be sure to tell us the colors in your flag and post your layout by the end of the day on July 31, 2016.

Simple, right? And now for the prizes (all prize winners chosen randomly):

  1. (1) $30.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice
  2. (1) $20.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice
  3. (1) $10.00 discount coupon towards a class of your choice

You can only win one prize in the challenge each month. Instructions on how to post a layout in the gallery and how to link it to this thread are pinned to the top of the category.

This layout uses pretty traditional shades of red, white, and blue and a patriotic theme.

This layout uses more muted shades of red, white, and blue

I can't wait to see your layouts.

Just noticed that all the formatting tools in the reply window are grayed out. It won't let me insert images or add links. Is there a post I missed somewhere about this?

Hi Suzanne! Beautiful layout with a beautiful cat. Thanks for joining the challenge and good luck with the drawing. I just tried replying to see if there is an issue and everything was okay for me. I had tried with my tablet and it wouldn't let me add anything. Were you using a computer or something else? You have the link here so that's all that matters but I'm curious as to why it was grayed out too.

I was on my MacBook Pro using the Chrome browser. Maybe I need to try Safari?

I'm using Chrome too but on a PC. I'm still not having problems with it. You could try Safari and see if it's any different.

Wonderful layout and your Donald Duck photos go perfectly with the red, white, and blue palette. Welcome to the Scrapaneers forum! Thanks for joining the challenge and good luck with the drawing.

gallery_29_18_235657.jpgThis page is my version of The final project in the Guide to Blending class.    I'm planning to use this as the title page for our Washington DC trip.

Great page Rosalie. I like the way you blended the map with the photo and I like that little touch of patterned paper at the top. Well done!

I am a newbie to challenges... If your countries flag is only one color and white.... Can you accent with grey or black??  Or only restricted to the two colors??

Good question, you can use any colors you like just include your flag colors.

I am late as usual, but I really like the challenges.  My flag color is as noted red, white and blue, there really is a patterned paper, didn't realize how much I covered it up!! (Sorry) also have the required amount of images.  Thanks for the fun challenge.  It leads me gently back to doing pages when I have been really off my game!!!
